Showboat FC saw their biggest challenge yet in league 4 by playing top of the league team Leenside.
The game saw a return to the inform, clean sheet specialist, keeper The Cat along with Mr Paul Thompson. Manager James Butler was less than happy with Phil 'The Power' and Jason 'J' AWOL. With international matches taking place at the same time it was rumored that both players defied their manager wishes by being part of the 3 lions setup. More on this subject next week.
Sadly Gary 'Shortbread' Munro was called up to play for his homeland team, we all saw how they got on! Gaz and Commons in a team - I know it makes me shudder!
Anyways....back to the match.
The minds of the Showboat players were scrambled when the KO whistle was blown. This was not because they had just started to read Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time book, this was an easy read for these guys, but was down to the fact that SBFC started to play against only 4 Leenside players.
During the time Leenside had only 4 players the boat knocked in 2 goals when sadly their 5th arrived. This just made the boat stronger, smashing in a further 3 goals to give a half time lead of 5-0.
This now equates to 75 minutes the boat had not conceded a single goal. Shocking I know!
The second half saw both teams starting to tire. With the intense heat not helping in the slightest. This saw a total of 11 goals.....not all for showboat =(
One of which saw a tremendous amount of spin on the ball while fooled the cats steady hands!
FT: 11-6.
