Following their top of the table victory last week everyone wants a piece of the Boat. James Butler has been inundated with sponsorship requests, hounded by agents (and Webb) to play next season and reporters for that spur of the moment interview.
This week BBC Nottingham were lucky enough to come aboard the Boat for week long interview.
There has been worry in the Boat camp for the safety of one of their previous players and La Toque FC Captain, Mathew Hallam. Since his status moved from 'Person of Interest' to 'Missing in Action' the boat have held regular meeting to discuss the next line of action.
This has also not been helped with Gavin Webb’s status of 'AWOL'.
Following his return from the National Reserve Team Under 12s at the Special Olympics Webb has not reported back to the Boats training ground. This has not pleased the fan or indeed the team. Previous rumours about his retirement may be the only way he can continue life with any dignity.
State of play in between the sticks has not been easy for the past few games. During intensive training sessions the Cat has looked leaner and sharper following the public bust up with manager James Butler where the Cat was slated for his weight issues and his pre match diet. The Cat thought he was miss-quoted when stated that 'Mini Muffins and Triple Chocolate Brownies are the perfect way to warm up' it may also be added that this interview took place in the pub after a few just hours after the previous match.
There have been murmurs within the ranks of a player revolt with 'The Power' wanting to take his place between the woodwork to show that he can do a better job. We will have to bring you the answer to that at a later date.
And So To This Weeks Match Report.
SBFC had the usual look to them with Jason returning after his episode with a fuse box last week. The fans were also treated to a second start for Gaz 'The Jock' Munro. Clearly wanting to repay the faith shown by the fan and team.
The game started at a slow pace with no real side looking threatening in front of goal. SB had the majority of the possession but lacked the vital edge. Then before you could say 'YOU REDS' the goals started to flow. Sadly for both teams. Boat going 2-0 up then a misplaced back pass saw the Cat stranded with a 1-on-1.
The boat stepped this up and continued their attack on goal. Each player looking hungry for more.
The boat started to take a commanding lead in the fixture with the ref seemingly keen to finish the fixture early as each sub appeared very quick.
All players were getting in on the goal action with the Cat doing his part with vital saves and defence cutting distribution. The half ended some to something (sorry lost count) but we were winning.
The second half started much like the first. Lots of SBFC possession but no end product. This of course broke with a few goals here or there.
The Controversy occurred.
Following a magnificent save the momentum of the cat took him slightly outside the area with no way to release the ball wedges between his legs. The law of the game clearly states that once the ball is released the keeper should not be penalised. Clearly the ref felt sorry for Premier FC and awarded them a penalty. With the cat going the opposite way they scored.
A few minutes later Premier FC keeper did exactly the same thing but referee says play on. Poor poor decision.
Showboat ended 19-8 victors.
Next weeks fixture is against Hope & Glory who have not yet won a game. And with SBFC still being in the top 5 for goals conceded this should be SBFC victory.
