"That was unbelievable". Just one of the quotes from Sky Sports following the impressive 7-8 Showboat FC victory in the top of the table clash against Roseberry.
Pre match forums were buzzing with the news of a Showboat clearout. Rumours that Gain Webb would make an emotional return were dashed when he failed yet another fitness test with a damages little toe. This has put into doubt the footballing future of Webb with whispers about retirement in the air.
La Toque were contacted to make a comment but the club secretary Matthew Hallam was unavailable for comment. There are rumours why and where Hallam was and all we can say is that we support your decision what ever side your on =)
Daniel Brooks also dealt Showboat a blow ruling Jason out of the match. This was due to his shoddy electrical work earlier in the day and him having to fix it =) better luck next time J.
Tuesday did see the return of the Scottish international Gary Munro & ex AC Nottingham midfielder Nathan. Both players looking forward to the game. In pre-match interview both players showed their desire to continue in the starting SBFC line up. Halfway through the interview Nathan received a phone call and was unavailable for the rest of the interview.
While the phone call continued SBFC kicked off in wet, slippery conditions. The ball was skimming around in conditions not favourable for keepers.
Roseberry were sporting their new away black kit with a couple of new players. Sadly they still had their powerful winger who has a shot like an on form Robbie Earnshaw.
The score line was all over the place. Roseberry took the lead with showboat quickly responding and taking the lead. Then it all happened again which Roseberry’s keeper keeping them in the game.
Half Time rolled in with the boat a goal behind Roseberry at 5-4.
The boat were rocked by the news Nathan had to go home to see his other half. Yes he walked out of a football match for the misses. Clearly the whip reached all the way to Powerleague.
After this news the team re-grouped knowing they were one half away from being knocked off the top of the league. Clearly this motivated the heck out of them.
SBFC came out a different team, not giving Roseberry a chance. Even when they did have an attempt the goal was well looked after.
Goal after goal after goal saw the Boat pull into harbour with the 8-7 victory!
Next weeks opponents are: Premiers FC.
