Tuesday night saw SBFC take on Hope & Glory in their Division 5 debut. H&G came down from division 4 so the boat knew this would be a tough ask. This fixture saw a record attendance with Paul Thompson watching from the stands.
Prior to the match La Toque FC, an 11 a side team from Beeston, were required to play a match which tied up the majority of SBFC players. Manager James Butler pleaded with the La Toque to go easy on the boat's players but the request was ignored. All members played with a couple picking up injures.
James Butler was clearly not happy with this decision and had a silent protest before the SBFC fixture. Due to the lack of support he was protesting alone, in a field, so come back to the ground. Due to the lack of respect show to his fellow team members Mr Butler was ordered to pick up the Showboat himself, Christopher Hart.
The game started at a frightenly quick pace with plenty of action along the wings. All of the hard work paid off with the boat grabbing a quick 2 goal lead and not a lot troubling the sturdy defense.
Every member of the team was eager in getting their name on the score board. This desire did not let their defensive mind slip. All players were on top form despite the 11 a side match prior to KO.
The first half closed with the boat 8-0 up. Another 1st half clean sheet and players wanting more.
The second half started the same as 1st. More fierce attacking and powerful plays saw the boat score for fun. More banter rang around the stands while they were impressed with terrific flicks, tricks and turns. All players got onto the score board including a superb division 5 debut hat-trick to Daz ( 2 on the trot! )
Final score ended up 12-1. Sadly a moment of madness saw the defense part like the red sea with the hobbling cat unable to paw away the stinging effort.
Sadly the game came at a price with Chris 'Showboat' Hart limping off. Chief physio has advised that both Chris sand the Cat will have scans to determine the full extent to their injures.
Goal Tallies are as follows:
Daz - 3 - Leading Goal Scorer
Dan - 2
Jason - 2
Butty - 2
Phil - 2
Chris - 1
This fantastic result sees showboat hit the top of the league on goal difference. Our sources believe the two teams below gained 10-0 victories due to teams not showing up.
Other results:
CIRCO LOCO 0 V 10 ASTRO STARS
ASDA ALLSTARS 10 V 0 DEL & TOUCHE FC
PREMIERS FC 3 V 11 ROSEBERRY FC
HOPE & GLORY FC 1 V 12 SHOW BOAT FC
