Controversy hit the start of high flying Showboat FC fixture with the announcement that top placed Roseberry FC received 3 points from their previous fixture and an extra 10 goals. Powerleague refused to comment on this. This comes after Ladbrooks stopped taken bets on Who will be the Division 6 champions following a string of unusual betting activity.
With the news of the awarding of the 3 points this meant that SBFC fixture against Eyeball FC would mean nothing as Roseberry could not be caught and 3rd placed Eyeball were 10 points behind the boat.
This did not dampen spirits and the boat enjoyed a solid, division 5 worthy, performance. Slick passing and crisp finishing saw the boat take a half time lead of 4-2. Poor weather conditions hampered the boat in the first half with lashing rain and a low sun making sure SBFC had to work for their performance.
They Sure Did.
Second half started in the same fashion as the first. More powerful cross field balls and darting runs behind the shoddy Eyeball defense. The slippery surface allowed showboat to pull out the full range of high quality skills they we have all learned over the past few months.
SBFC received a standing ovation from the fans as they left the field to a 8-4 victory. This proceeded by a lap of honor.
Stand in first team coach Cat told East Midlands Today. "It was a good, deserved victory today. No one likes the 6:30 kick offs but its part of the job. You get on and do it.
"All the back room staff would like to thank the fans for their loyal support throughout the season & hope we can bring the same magic in division 5."
