Tuesday evening saw Showboat FC take on Pizza Express in the Division 6 clash. Many supporters were unhappy with the kickoff being delayed to 21:30 due to the match appearing live on Sky Sports Extra. The boat showed there appreciation by producing one of the finest performances of the season. Due to the late kick off the fans were able to catch a glimpse of Chris 'Mr Showboat' Hart.
The first half was all boat who were sporting the new third pink kit. Quick, flowing, one touch football was matched with clinical and precise finishing. Which saw Showboat FC reach an 10-0 lead at half time without a sweat.
The second half saw Pizza Express come out of the blocks with more determination with the Cat being called into action for the first time of the match. This did not phase the boat with high quality defensive work and pin-point passing allowing everyone to play their way out of trouble.
Sadly cracks did start to show as the wet, greasy surface had a part to play. Showboat conceded when a pass was intercepted and PEFC slotted home from a one on one situation. With the Cats head in his hands knowing a possible clean sheet had been whipped from under him.
This started the Boat off again with a 'Anything you can do, we can do better' war began. More epic finishing and showboat-esk moves allowed them to increase their lead. Sadly misplaced passes and over confidence saw 3 more goals hit passed the helpless keeper.
With the final whistle being blown SBFC produced a brilliant 13-4 result which sends warning to the rest of the league and opens up a 7 point gap between 2 placed boat and 3rd placed Eyeball FC. Roseberry also gained a vital victory to keep them top of the league, 3 points clear of Showboat.
Final Goal Tallies:
Phil - 2
Daz - 2 (Apparently robbed of his hat-trick )
Butty - 2
Nathan - 2
Dan - 5
