Last night saw the Boat take to a show court to play Pizza Express knowing that a win could secure promotion depending on results from elsewhere.
The Boat started brightly and scored within the opening minute, calming the nerves. With the opposition arguing between themselve the Boat controlled the game and the scoreline, scoring 10 without reply in the first half. The pick of which was a sublime chip over the on rushing keeper from Butler (as picked by the crowd of people watching the game!)
The Boat playing with a new found freedom, since Gav (I've hurt my metatarsal) Webb was dropped, and Chris 'Showboat' Hart was recalled, looked like they could have gone on to score a hatful. However they took there foot off the gas in the second half only managing another 3 goals. Pizza Express did manage to score 4 in the second half.
Their goals however were in vain as the Boat ran out comfortable winners 13-4. This result combined with other results now means that Showboat are in second, 3 points behind the leaders and 7 points in front of third with 2 games remaining.
By my calculation this means that Showboat have secured promotion from Div 6 at the second time of asking. They can now turn their intentions to winning the championship with 2 wins from their final games, hoping that roseberry slip up along the way.
Goals scored: Phil - 2 Daz - 2 James - 2 Dan - (lost count) Nathan - (lost count)
This leaves Dan well in control of the top scorer role!
Up the Boat!
