Tuesday night saw the Showboat arrive to play 5 Alive. Prior to the match manager James Buttler received some worrying news that 'striker' Gavin Webb could not play due to a metatarsal injury. SBFC medical staff have not been able to test the fitness of the out of form front man due to his no show in the medial quarter.
Buttler told Sky Sports News "We only got a 30 second phone call from him. I am very doubtful of the injury as he would not let our staff take a look at him." Webb played 20 minutes for La Toque FC coming through his stint with no obvious injury.
Buttler had to give a late fitness test to SBFC number 1 Cat. Cat was subbed off injured in La Toque’s 3-2 defeat to then bottom of the division Inkfish FC. Cat was due to sit this game out to recover but Butler had to risk the shot stopper.
Star striker and Showboat scout, Dan Brooks, advised the management staff of a potential loan willing to play. Following Brooks advice Buttler pounced on the opportunity to bring in former AC Nottingham midfielder, Nathan (single name, like Ronaldo or Madonna).
The boat started strong and never looked back. Fast, free-flowing football was finished off with crisp accurate finishing. There was never any doubt the boat would lose this match.
5 Alive did have a few good attempts on goal with the injured Cat equal to the vast majority.
Showboat ran out eventual winners by 12 goals to 6. Which leave them 5 points ahead of 3rd place and level with Roseberry.
Next week sees the return of Pizza Express FC who saw the rough end of the anchor last time they met Showboat seeing SBFC upmerge to a mighty 14-2 victory.
Final Goal Tallies:
James Buttler - 2
Phil Naylor - 1
Daz Naylor - 2
Nathan - 2
Dan Brooks - 5
(Please let me know if these need amending)
