The Boat recorded their largest ever victory last night as they steam rollered Pizza Express to claim all 3 points.
On a warm evening on one of the many show courts at the Powerleague, the Boat started slowly and soon found themselves 1-0. Howevever with chances galore at the other end it wasn't long before they found themselves on level terms, albeit with a little help from the opposition goalie! Minutes later however after some poor passing the Boat again found themselves go behind. This again was short lived as the Boat rallied and scored a sublime goal from a quickly taken Phil 'The Power' Naylor freekick.
From then on in, it was the Boat who created the chances. After peppering the goal for the remaining time of the first half, the Boat managed another 4 goals and found themselves 6-2 up at half time.
As Pizza Express began to tire the Boat took advantage, running riot in the second half. Goals from every member of the team saw them go into the last 5 minutes leading 10-2. Here it must be mentioned that in actual fact it should have been 11-2, but for the incredible miss of Daz. From the edge of the box and the keeper on the floor, he somehow missed the target and hung his head in shame!
Dan having had a thought earlier in the game, worked when he went off as sub, to ensure that he was on the field for the last 5 minutes. With Daz retreating to defence after his shocker it gave the forward two of Dan and Gav more space in which to create chances. With the opposition down and out, they didn't put up much resistance during the last 5 and the Boat ran out 16-2 winners. This is a RECORD Boat victory and by far the best performance of the season.
Praise should also go to the Cat as he kept a clean sheet during the second half!
Despite this victory however there was one point for concern for the Boat. While winning 14-2 the oppositions only defender was down tying his laces. The ball was passed to him and he therefore could not play the ball. Whilst the ball was at his feet, Dan ran in, kicked him and pushed him over to get the ball (all this was missed by the ref!!!) This gave Dan a one on one which he scored to make it 15-2.
I feel that this goal should therefore be chalked off Dans tally for unsportsman like play. Therefore the final goal tally from yesterdays game reads:-
Phil - 1
Daz - 1
James - 5
Gav - 5
Dan - 4
