The Show Boat set sail last night as the mighty boat got their first victories of the season!
On a cold night down at the powerleague Showboat were promoted to pitch nr 13 to take on Risk it for a Biscuit in the first game of a double header.
The Boat with only 5 men (and 1 was Paul....only joking!) started well and stormed into a 4-0 lead at half-time. The game then turned abit physical as Gaz kept getting taken from behind by their rather large centre half! The Boat did not let this phase them as they closed out the game to take their first win of the season 5-1.
The next game saw us take on Roseberry FC who were also playing their 2nd game of the evening. This was also our first game to be officiated by 'The handball its a penalty' Ref.
The Boat got off to a slow start and soon found themselves 1-0 behind after some poor defending. However we battled back and were soon awarded a penelty (not for handball!) wis was unfortunatley missed by Phil 'The power' Naylor. We did however draw level a minute later when we were awarded another penalty which Gaz converted.
Showboat then got a grip of the game and a fine first half performance saw us go into the break 5-2 up.
The second half was far more difficult as the 5 men started to tire. When they scored straight from the Kick Off the game was back in the balance. The Boat however showed there determination and kept the advantage with some slick passing football.
Late on in the second half Phil went in goal and 'The Cat' showed what he can do on the pitch, with two goals in the closing minutes. The best of which was a volley (left foot??) from the half way line after some wonderful build up play by Paul.
The Boat eventually wound up winning 11-7 to make it 6 points out of 6 for the double header.
Next week we look to carry our impressive form on, as we take on Eyeball FC who currently sit one place above us in 3rd only on goal difference.
Up the Boat!
