I'm sure you've all noticed recently that I have had to referee a number of our games. This is due to a combination of events.
Firstly, with the league having a shortage of official referees not every game each Sunday will be allocated one. I must admit that we seem to have had more this season than previous seasons but we will still sometimes be in a situation where an official referee is not appointed forour game.
Secondly, and most importantly. Unfortunately Tony Turner is awaiting a hip operation and cannot referee any games until he has had it. This means that we have now lost our back up.
Now I can hear you all shouting at your monitor "But Matt you're a bloody good ref and we love it when you are the man in black'!!!!
In all honesty I do enjoy reffing and am quite happy to do it when called upon, however, I would prefer to play (no comments about you lot prefering me not to play please!!). And as our squad is no longer as big as it was sometimes this may leave usin the lurch in terms of numbers.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that if anyone knows someone who would be prepared to referee our games when needed it would be very much appreciated. We are prepared to pay but this would need to be negotiated beforehand. And more importantly we would GUARANTEE the safety of anyone who reffed our games.
We're prepared to consider anyone. Even if they just want to have a trial period.
