Just found the Westdale match report for our recent game against them.
Some may say that the rose coloured spectacles were being worn for the description of a couple of penalty incidents.
Here's the full report:
La Torque vs Wanderers
February 12th 2006
Up against 3rd this week so it should be tough competition. The game kicks off and continue where we left off in magnificent form. We are all over the opposition in the first 10 minutes when we get our just rewards with a finely crafted goal with some good work from Brown on the right wing who gets in a cross and after a few rebounds Eaton takes his opportunity well to make it 1-0 in off the post. Then against the run of play they capitalize on a mistake in the defence when the usual reliable Knowles misses a header for them to score. This did not unsettle us as we continued to play good flowing football. Half-time score 1-1. The team go into the 2nd half with a lot of confidence because they know they are capable of winning the game and also because Edis made it to half-time injury free! Then just like last week we dominate the game particularly with Jordan controlling the pitch with some awesome interchange passing on the left side with Chantry and Brown. He looks comfortable in this role with Knowles breaking down the opposition attacks and feeding it off. A good partnership in the making. With us playing some good football the opposition were restricted to go long ball but the back three were all in fine form and was on top of everything. Then from an innocent corner a flick on was made onto S.Hopkins arm who was directly behind the player resulting in a dubious penalty which Harrison maganificently saved. Then moments later the oppostion prevented Chantry from progressing past with a deliberate handball which was obviously not given! This comes also after another penalty claim where knowles was felled when in the area. Neither given. Despite this we created many chances and looked favourites for the game. Davies then replaced Hancock. Also with a few minutes left Davidson replaces J.Hopkins and Cutts replaces Chantrey. A very impressive performance by the Wanderers again who are going from strength to strength. Another man of the match for Knowles who is running away with it now as that is his sixth whereas Wiklo has three and everyone else has one.
Final Score 1-1
