Showboat FC got their second win of the season last night and kept their 100% record for the season. This fixture vs Lager Legs was a repeat of the games played last season which saw The Boat up maximum points agaist them.
Conditions were difficult with both teams taking time to adapt to the skiddy suface. This showed as the game stayed at 0-0 for some time until Showboat opened the scoring through a clinical finish from Webb! The score stayed at 1-0 until half time as The Boat kept possession well and frustrated the opposition.
The Boat got of to a flyer in the second half, doubling their lead after some fine build up play. This however only seemed to stir the opposition into action, who replied with twom goals of their own leaving the game in the balance with 15 minutes remaining.
The Boat were shocked at this reply but managed to regain their composure scoring 2 goals a restoring their lead. At 4-2 The Boat should have pushed on and got more but instead it was Lager Legs who upped their game and again drew level after some poor Boat defending!
With 5 minutes to go it was 4-4 and the game could have gone either way, with both teams attacking at will. The 'Cat' pulled off some fine saves to keep The Boat in the game. One of which lead to The next goal of the game. A fine throw out and some good build up left Phil 'The power' Naylor in space and he finished to make it 5-4..................I know this is hard to believe but it was Phils first goal ever down at the Powerleague!!!!!
The Boat having restored their lead at 5-4 were not going to relinquish it again and a fine solo goal from Webb rounded off the scoring at gave The Boat a valuble 3 points.
The 6-4 scoreline leaves us joint second in the table.
Up the Boat!
