The Boat clinched a dramatic victory in their opening game of the new season, against TVFC, the team that finished bottom of Div 6 last year.
Showboat started poorly and found them selves 3-0 down after 5 mins, this mainly down to slack defending and some major goalkeeping blunders. The introduction of James Butler and Mr Showboat himself seemed to steady the 'Boat' and they soon found themselves back in the game at 3-2. A fairly even second quarter meant that the Boat found themselves 5-3 behind at half time and staring defeat in the face!
However an explosive first 15 mins of the second half saw the Boat not only get level but also gain a 3 goal advantage, through some flaymboyant passing and tricks. At 10-7 the Boat started to relax and this allowed TVFC back into the game, they closed the gap to just one goal with 5 minutes to spare.
The Boat using all their experience at this level, held on to the ball and with some blatent time wasting managed to hold on to the 10-9 scoreline.
So the Boat off to a winning start look forward to a mouthwatering fixture next week, where they hope to continue their recent impressive run of results.
Up the Boat!!
