After being beaten again yesterday, i still feel that there was positives from the game. the first and main positive was the make shift back four, which i felt that apart from the first 30 mins worked hard and achieved a worthy performance where after the first dodgy 30 we only conceeded one and we scored one. To me this was due to the communication we had going. both Matt and Harry played excellent and even Tom played well out of position. Other positives is we are still trying where most teams would of packed it all in.

My sentiments exactly.
I've said it before & i'll say it again its not about just ability at our level its attitude & communication.
Our attitude can't be faulted because like Daz says many would have folded by now. But we have players wanting to join us. (what does that say?)
But our communication has been lacking for a long while now. AFC Bridgford are a good team but for the final hour we were as good as they were not because we have become better players but because we started talking to each other.
Basics is the word I like to use and we started to go back to them & it worked on Sunday.
Special mentions to Tom (I used to play at right back you know) Drage. As well as the rest of the back four. Also Ian (Old One!) for a performance in an alien position for him.
Finally, its good to end a dismal year on a high lets hope that when I have Gaz back to push the forwards for a place and of course myself (who i'm sure you'll agree can play anywhere as long as its in defence on the left!) we will get some much needed competition for places.
By the way first game back is Le Grand is there anyone out there that wants to win that as much as me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would just like to add something to a point Daz briefly touched upon in his post above.
I think that it is quite remarkable that despite the run of results that we have had so far this season we are still managing to get a decent turnout each and every week.
I would just like to say thanks to every single player who is currently playing for us. As chief organiser (along with Craig) it makes life sooooo much easier for us both knowing that we can rely on everyone of you to turn up, or if you cannot turn up let us know well in advance.
Keep the faith lads and the results will come.
Merry Crimbo and a Happy New Year to you all.

Well, after our first win of the season on Sunday and our first clean sheet for over two years, Daz's post above now seems even more incisive.
The big question for the back four (and Andy) now is 'Can we keep doing it against better teams?'
We will see during the next few weeks???

Thanks Dave for your kind comments. I must admit that, at times, it's been hard work to keep plugging away but it was all wothwhile on Sunday. Just one win and I've had a huge smile on my face since and feel like I've won the FA Cup. Today Le Grand, tomorrow FC Samba!!!!! (Hello it looks like the success has gone to my head already)

Dave,
I think your biggest hurdle to overcome in the cup game against Le Grand will be complacency. In terms of ability I don't think you should have too much trouble but as your post above indicated there is always the possibility that you could take things too easy and end up getting bitten on the arse (i.e. Beeston Rovers last season)!!!! Although saying that I think you probably went through a bit of a patch like this earlier in the season when you drew games against teams you should have beaten. I'm guessing your not going to make the same mistake again.
Your game against Red Lion this weekend is a difficult one to call. We played them only a couple of weeks before Crimbo and only lost to a last minute winner. Then the following week they stuff Bestwood Youth 5-1. I guess the result will depend on which of their teams turn up.
Finally Ric, there we were having some nice friendly banter. I'm feeling good about football at the moment and you have to mention the F****t word and send me crashing into a fit of depression again. Here we come Division 1!!!!!
Good luck lads.
