Back To Basics
I can’t say it any simpler than that. Lets be frank we have not played well for a while now and in the last two games we have been punished for our shortcomings.
But two games doesn’t make us a bad team, we just need reminding what made us a decent team. Yes here it comes; you know you love it, all together now
SIMPLE
ATTITUDE
SHAPE
Three little words but I think we have forgotten them lately.
SIMPLE:
Play the way we’re facing, look for the simple pass, make sure your always available, win the tackle all simple things but we haven’t been doing them. We must ensure Sunday that we do all of these things and also all the other SIMPLE things in the game.
ATTITUDE:
Overall the attitudes not bad, by that I mean we’re not turning on each other. However, what we are doing is not encouraging each other. For example when someone does make a mistake there are lots of rolling of eyes, huffing and puffing under our breaths. What should be happening is when someone makes a mistake others should be encouraging the player that he was doing the right thing and to keep on trying. Another example on Sunday was when we scored our first goal on Sunday there was still 40 minutes to go I didn’t get one word of congratulation or encouragement this isn’t good enough. We must start ensuring that the team is always on their toes and the only way to do this is for everyone to encourage each other.
SHAPE:
Another basic operation, we all know by now the general shape of the team. We must therefore ensure that when the opposition has the ball then we must drop back into this shape. I know that during a game we find ourselves out of position for one reason or another but we must ensure that as soon as we are not involved in the play we get back into our shape.
Ok enough of the lecture, its time to turn this run around starting tomorrow. Remember these things above and put them into practice tomorrow. But above all I need you to show me some ‘passion’ both on and off the pitch. I expect everyone from the minute they put that shirt on tomorrow to be up for the match. We should be at full strength tomorrow so there no excuses. The only people that can turn this around are us. We are good enough, you know it I know it but at the moment we’re not showing it.
So tomorrow I expect all of you to stand up and be counted. Get out there do the basics right, concentrate on your game (not other peoples) and lets show Park Tavern that we are a decent team. I’ll see you all in the morning.
Don’t forget SIMPLE ATTITUDE SHAPE.
Come On You Blues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS I’ve not picked man of the match recently because I don’t think any of us have deserved it. But tomorrow I need 11 men of the match performances so its over to you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!
